Plastic or Clay Onions

People are like onions. We have many different layers and the more you peal off, the more your authenticity shows and the more apt you are to renew your commitment to God.

Stand in front of the mirror and truly take a look at yourself. Think about how you lead your life. Are you going through the motions and letting life pass you by? Or are you truly embracing your dreams and leading by example? Do you go to church because it's the thing to do and you've been doing it for years? Or do you go to church because you genuinely love God? When you see new faces, do you ignore them? Or do you introduce yourself and make them feel welcome? Do you righteously visit teach / home teach? Or no because you're "too busy"? Do you take things for granted? Or do you live each moment with renewed valor? Are your layers rigid like plastic? Or are your layers flexible like clay?

Listen, I'm no expert and nobody is perfect. We absolutely make mistakes and learn from them (well, ideally). But, let's face it, life is tough. The question is - how are you going to handle it? I pledge that we make the best out of what we have, choose to be zealous rather than lukewarm, remain positive even when things go wrong, and remember that the good cannot happen without the bad.

Life Nuggets:
· Five people in the world would die for you.
· You are loved and wanted.
· If people say they hate you, it is either because they want to be just like you, or they see something in you that they hate about themselves.
· A genuine smile is more powerful than you realize.
· Someone thinks very highly of you.
· Without you, someone may not be alive.
· When you make the biggest mistake ever, there is always something good that comes from it.
· There might be times that you think people turned their back on you; take a look, really you have turned your back on the world.
· Let the rude remarks slide; instead, cherish the compliments you receive.
· We get so “busy” and tend to neglect things or take people for granted, so I challenge you to take the time to let your true friends know they are great.

Do You Get Bored?

Boredom is a silly concept because there are always things to do, even if you are doing nothing. You don't need to constantly be on the go (though it is important to stay occupied within reason), it is okay to have relax time. Boredom doesn't come into play for me. I can make dull times be interesting and exciting. It's more a matter of perspective, attitude, keeping your mind hopping. Gotta find the balance really.

OCD Humor - You Know You Have it When...

....All of the light switches have to be down when off. Can't have one light switch down and the other up if all of the lights are off. **twitch**
....Everything needs to be straight and just so. Exceptions for me are unorganized piles, which are organized in my own lil way, which means not really organized but to me sort of organized.
....I cannot stand phone cords that are all twisted up and crooked. I have this innate need to fix them as soon as I can get my hands on them.
....I park in the same spot, sit in the same seat, go the same routes. If I deviate from that, I get nervous.
....I prefer even numbers over odd numbers.
....if I have one nail that is short, I need to cut the rest to be the same length, otherwise it gives me a complex.
....still trying to figure out the whole zero verses letter O thing. Did you ever notice? 5 'oh 9 vs 509. 97402 vs 974 'oh 2. Gah. Really it should be zero. I mean, it's a number not a letter.

Cassette Tapes? Wha...?

So yeah. I lost my iPod, presumably in my piles (hopefully not stolen). The CD player in my car doesn't work. I listen to the radio sometimes, but I usually don't like to hear ads or talking. I want music! But hey - the tape player in my car works! So I whipped out the good ol' cassette tapes. Makes me feel retro and defined =P

Movie Review: Letters To Juliet

A+ for the beautiful Italian scenery.
A+ for the letter idea and originality of the way the love story was delivered.
D for the sickening love story.
F for predictability.

Italy rules. The scenery was fantastic. The warmth and charm between the characters and the light humor was delightful.

But some of the stuff? Come on. How likely is that to happen? Happy endings are nice and it is the process not the destination, but.. I dunno. Kill someone off at least! Let the guy and the girl end up with other people! Throw a zombie into the mix! And a panda while you're at it. Or a Swan, like in Hot Fuzz.

Gleenobly's rating: 5/10. Maybe 6. Or how about 5.6, I'm all about compromise.

Norma Jeane Mortensen

aka Marilyn Monroe. She would have been 84 today. I learned more about her. What a heartbreaking life she lead, especially her childhood. All hail Norma Jeane!

24 Series Finale

On the other hand, this one was fabulous. Great closure. Will miss this show too.

Lost Finale Disappointing

Talk about a cop out ending! I will definitely miss the show, though.
